Panama Update – Week 8

It is strange how weather can affect your mood.  I have been, how can I say this nicely, a little irritable   his past week.  We have not had any rain for a week.  I did not realize just how irritable I was until today……RAIN!!!  I never have been a lover of rain until now.  The coolness that the rain brought put a little giddy-up in my step.  So today…I thank God for the rain and the change of attitude that came with it.

This past Saturday was my families ‘cookie day’.   Every year my family gets together to make cookies, candies, etc.  This is a tradition that we have been doing since I was very small.   I have only missed one cookie day in my lifetime and that was also due to being on a trip to Panama.  So this year I decided to bring cookie day to Panama.  It was a challenge making one tray of cookies at a time in my  little stove, but watching Malvina roll out the cookies and sing Christmas songs as she did it was a great experience.  Saturday I invited Malvina’s family over to decorate the cookies.  After I made the icing I showed them what to do.  There were about six adults.  Every one of them made and ate 5 or 6 cookies before they began to decorate the rest.  Malvina’s dad had a bowl in front of him and was eating it like soup, dipping his cookies in it.  It was pretty funny.

Some of my facebook friends might have read my post about the toddler that drowned.  His parents are native missionaries in a village out in the jungle.  The canoe they were traveling in overturned and the little boy did not make it.  The last I heard they had not found him yet.  But that was a few weeks ago and I have not heard an update.  I did hear that they were bringing the family into the city and taking up a love offering for them.  These missionaries work on a volunteer basis, they receive no funding for their efforts.  We are contributing to this love offering.  I have a picture of the mother and son at the pastor’s conference that we went to at the first of November.  I remember her standing up and talking about how dangerous the travel was back and forth from her village.  She said her mom had told her several times that she would die doing this work.  She said that she would rather die doing God’s work than not doing anything for Him.  Please continue to pray for this family, pray for the peace of God to surround them during this painful time.

I have two more weeks until I travel home for Christmas.  I am looking forward to spending some time with my family and friends.  Please continue to pray for the transportation situation.  I am still looking for a small vehicle and I am hoping to be able to purchase one when I return in January. 

Please pray for our Panama team.  They are discussing when they will be traveling to Diwarsikua to deliver the Christmas gifts they have collected.  We have cancelled our trip in January but are still making plans for the trip in March.  If you are interested in going with us, please contact us.

Es extraño cómo tiempo puede afectar su humor. He sido, cómo puedo digo este bien, un poco irritable el suyo semana pasada. Nosotros no hemos tenido lluvia para una semana. ¡Yo no me di cuenta de justo cuán irritable estuve hasta hoy……RAIN!!! Yo nunca he sido un amante de lluvia hasta ahora. El frescor que la lluvia traída puso un poco-frívolo arriba en mi paso. Tan hoy…doy gracias a Dios para la lluvia y el cambio de actitud que vino consigo.

 Esto el sábado pasado fue mi "día de galleta" de familias. Todos los años mi familia se junta para hacer galletas, los dulces, etc. Esto es una tradición que hemos estado haciendo desde que yo fui muy pequeño. Yo sólo he perdido un día de galleta en mi vida y eso fue también debido a está en un viaje a Panamá. Tan este año que decidí traer galleta día a Panamá. Fue un desafío que hace una bandeja de galletas a la vez en mi cocina pequeña, pero en mirar rollo de Malvina fuera las galletas y canta Navidad canciones como ella lo hizo fue una gran experiencia. El sábado yo invité la familia de Malvina para decorar las galletas. Después de que hiciera el glaseado que yo los mostré lo que hacer. Había acerca de seis adultos. Cada uno de ellos hizo y comió 5 o 6 galletas antes que ellos comenzaran a decorar los demás. El padre de Malvina tuvo un tazón adelante de él y lo comía quiere sopa, mojando sus galletas en ello. Fue bastante gracioso.

Algunos de mis amigos facebook quizás habían leído mi poste acerca del pequeñín que se ahogó. Sus padres son misioneros nativos en una aldea fuera en la selva. La canoa que ellos viajaban en volcado y el chico pequeño no lo hizo. El último que oí que ellos no lo habían encontrado todavía. Pero eso fue hace algunos semanas y yo no he oído una actualización. Oí que ellos traían la familia en la ciudad y tomaban un amor que ofrece para ellos. Estos misioneros trabajan en una base de voluntarios, ellos no reciben financiación para sus esfuerzos. Contribuimos a esta ofrenda del amor. Tengo una imagen de la madre y el hijo en la conferencia del pastor que fuimos a en el primer de noviembre. Yo la recuerdo que parándose y hablando de cuán peligroso el viaje regresó y adelante de su aldea. Ella dijo que su mamá la había dicho varias veces que ella se moriría hacer este trabajo. Ella dijo que ella se moriría más bien el trabajo de Dios que hace que no haciendo nada para El. Continúe por favor para orar para esta familia, ora para la paz de Dios para rodearlos durante este tiempo doloroso.

Tengo dos más semanas hasta que viaje en casa para las Navidades. Espero el gasto algún tiempo con mi familia y amigos. Continúe por favor para orar para la situación de transporte. Yo todavía busco un pequeño vehículo y yo espero poder comprar uno cuando regreso en enero.

Ore por favor para nuestro equipo de Panamá. Ellos discuten cuando ellos estarán viajando a Diwarsikua para entregar los regalos de Navidad que ellos han reunido.
