Panama Update 4^th Week 2010

I did not send out an update last week because I had sent the letter sharing about our trip coming up in March.  We are still praying through the finances we need for that trip.  Over the past few weeks we have been exploring Panama.  We took an ‘attempted’ bus trip to church.  I say attempted because we actually ended up taking a taxi to church and a bus back.  We got to the bus stop prepared to take the bus, all excited to learn something new.  Every bus that passed had people hanging out of the door.  We waited several minutes and each bus looked fuller and fuller, so I suggested we try to find a taxi to take us.  We got lucky on the first try.  After church we went and got our hair cut at the mall on that side of town and then took a bus home.  Malvina was nice enough to go with us on this trip to try and teach us how to us the bus system here. 

Our next adventure was trying to take the buses by ourselves.  This past Friday, we decided, would be a good time for us to try to go.  We called our friend Kathy, who is on the mission team we work with here, and told her we were going.  We just wanted to let someone know we were going by ourselves.  A few minutes later we received a phone call from another friend of ours asking what we were doing for the day.  I told him and he said he would like to meet us there.  We found out later from Kathy that she had called our friend and told him that he should go make sure we were safe.  Lindy said, ‘Kathy tattled on us!’  It was nice to know we have people here that are concerned about us, even though we are trying desperately to be more independent and not have to rely on others to get us around.

Today was a surprise adventure.  Lindy and I have been walking around the neighborhood for exercise.  She admittedly goes more often than me; she does not have the dislike of profusely sweating like I do.  Let us just say she calls me princess.  She told me about a park that she found that overlooked part of the valley in our area.  We walked there today and it was breathtaking.  You could see for miles.  This area is called Brisas del Golf and it lived up to its name today on that cliff.  It was like standing by the ocean or the lake.  As I stood there looking at the amazing view I was listening to ‘Yours’ by Steven Curtis Chapman.  It is a song about everything being God’s.  There are moments, like that one, when I am overwhelmed at the opportunity that He has given me to experience living in another country. 

We would like to ask you to continue to pray for our trip coming up in March.  We are also taking a short trip this weekend out to the country with Pastor Roosevelt’s church.  Please pray for a safe trip there and back.  Thank you so much for your faithfulness in supporting us through prayer!!

Yo no mandé una actualización la semana pasada porque había enviado la carta que comparte acerca de nuestro viaje que sube en marzo. Nosotros todavía oramos por las finanzas que necesitamos para ese viaje. Sobre las últimas semanas nosotros hemos estado explorando Panamá. Tomamos un viaje "procurado" de autobús a la iglesia. Digo procuré porque acabamos por realmente tomando un taxi a la iglesia y un autobús apoya. Llegamos al paradero preparó para tomar el autobús, todo emocionó a aprender algo nuevo. Cada autobús que pasó a personas tenidas que cuelga fuera de la puerta. Esperamos varios minutos y cada autobús pareció más lleno y más lleno, así que sugerí que tratamos de encontrar que un taxi para tomarnos. Conseguimos afortunado en el primer trata. Después de que la iglesia nosotros fuéramos y nos cortáramos el pelo en el paseo en ese lado del pueblo y entonces tomáramos un autobús en casa. Malvina fue suficiente agradable para ir con nosotros en este viaje a tratar y enseñarnos cómo a nosotros el sistema de autobuses aquí.

Nuestra próxima aventura trataba de tomar los autobuses por nosotros mismos. Esto el viernes pasado, nosotros decidimos, seríamos un tiempo bueno para nosotros tratar de ir. Llamamos nuestro amigo a Kathy, que está en el equipo de misión que trabajamos con aquí, y la dijimos que íbamos. Nosotros sólo quisimos permitirle saber que íbamos por nosotros mismos. Unos pocos minutos luego nosotros recibimos una llamada telefónica de otro amigo que nuestro preguntando lo que hacíamos por el día. Yo lo dije y él dijo que él querría encontrarnos allí. Averiguamos luego de Kathy que ella había llamado a nuestro amigo y lo dicho que él debe ir la marca segura que estuvimos a salvo. ¡Lindy dijo, 'Kathy divulgó en nosotros'! Fue agradable saber que tenemos a personas aquí que nos se preocupan por, aunque tratemos de ser desesperadamente más independientes y no tener que depender de otros conseguir nosotros alrededor.

Hoy fue una aventura de la sorpresa. Lindy y yo han estado andando alrededor del vecindario para el ejercicio. Ella va es verdad más a menudo que yo; ella no tiene la antipatía de sudar pródigamente como hace. Permíta quenos acabemos de decir que ella me llama princesa. Ella me dijo acerca de un parque que ella encontró que parte dejada pasar del valle en nuestra área. Anduvimos allí hoy y fuimos conmovedor. Usted podría ver hasta muy lejos. Esta área es llamada Brisas el Golf de del y vivido de acuerdo a su nombre hoy en ese precipicio. Estuvo como la posición por el océano o el lago. Como yo me paré allí mirando el asombrar ve escuchaba "Suyo" por Steven Curtis Chapman. Es una canción acerca de todo es Dios. Hay momentos, como ése, cuando soy agobiado en la oportunidad que El me ha dado a experimentar vivir en otro país.

Querríamos pedir que usted continuar orar para nuestro viaje que sube en marzo. Nosotros también tomamos un viaje corto este fin de semana fuera al país con la iglesia de Pastor Roosevelt. Ore por favor para un viaje seguro allí y atrás. ¡Gracias tanto para su fidelidad a apoyarnos por oración!! ¡Dios Bendice!
