NEWS

IN MEMORY OF PASTOR ROOSEVELT: Soul Seekers Ministry will miss our friend, pastor and mentor. Pastor Roosevelt and Max had been making videos in the Kuna language to encourage and disciple the Kuna people wherever they are. Our trips will not be the same without him. His children and grand-kids want to continue in his work of "making disciples of all nations", Mathew 28:19. He was with Soul Seekers Ministry for about 15 years. This newsletter is a tribute to a man of God, his passion for God's word and his dedication to his family.

Pastor Roosevelt Arias

The last sermon Pastor Roosevelt preached at his church, Getsemani was titled: "THE POWER OF GOD IN YOUR WEAKNESS". He mentioned the following passage: 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 "But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. Amen!"

In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. Mathew 5:16

We leave the food outside when the family has Covid-19 to avoid contact.

What We’re Up To

Hello brothers and sisters! Please be in prayer for us here in Panama.  There are about 1000 new Covid-19 cases a day. The hospitals are full. We are still in quarantine and are only able to leave during our allotted two hours. Friday night to Monday morning is a total quarantine and everything is closed.  Personally, we (Perez/Clark Family) are doing well. Unfortunately, for the past couple of weeks family members, close friends and pastors that have become infected.  This week, a close friend went to be with the Lord.  Praise God he knew Jesus, our Savior!

Soul Seekers has been helping families with food.  But the reason we are here, is to share about the Lord Jesus Christ. Please pray for us to have wisdom while sharing the gospel.  I, Max, was able to get a permit to be out of the house without time restrictions Monday through Friday. Friday afternoon, Pastor Josef and I went to help a young family with food.  While we were talking to the dad, he mentioned that they did not have any food left.  He, his wife, and their three kids had not eaten anything all day!  I know there are many cases like this, but seeing it broke my heart.  I asked him about his relationship with the Lord.  He said he had a time of rebellion, but he now rejoices knowing the Lord, even when they don't have anything!  Wow!!!  I was able to see God's Spirit in Him clearly.  He was not just saying words.  Praise the Lord!

God's still creating new things! We were able to deliv

er food and encourage another family too. Because of all that is happening, they see a need to start a house church.    This young pastor was so excited about this new adventure with the Lord.  He kept sharing his excitement and is accepting the challenges involved with joy!  SSM is equally excited and looking forward to helping this new church.

This is the new House Church Plant.

And finally, be in pray for the Kuna Yala Islands.  Two more island have been infected: Achutupu and Ukupseni. Last week one island had become so bad they were bringing patients to the city by helicopter.

Thank each one of you for your help and prayers. We are praying for our brothers and sisters around the world.  May we lift the light of Jesus Christ during these dark times: In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. Mathew 5:16

Please pray for Pastor Roosevelt and Ines. (Some of you met them when they stayed with us a few years ago.) They have been hospitalized from Covid-19 complications.  They are recovering well and are both stable. They are not in ICU. The rest of their family is also positive but they are recovering at home. Thank you for your prayers, they mean a lot to us.

A Quick Update

Romans 12:5 So it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we allbelong to each other.

What We’re Up To

So, we are still in total quarantine. They teased us a few weeks ago by replacing the quarantine with a curfew. It was so nice to get out of the house! It only lasted five days and then total quarantine was reinstated. Last week, a friend of mine passed away from the Coronavirus.  It is hard to believe how many people we know who have the virus.

Every Sunday, our Soul Seekers Panama team has a Zoom meeting.  We connect with each other to see how everyone is holding up. We report what we have heard from the brothers and sisters in Puerto Gavilana and Urgandi/Mamartupu. We are intentionally keeping in contact with them in the village and island, asking how they are, how we can pray for them, and keeping the discipleship going. Then, during our Sunday meeting, we share what God is doing. Pastor Josef and Pastor Arturo also share their challenges as their churches are still virtual. Pastor Roosevelt and I are working on recording videos in Kuna for our brother and sisters in the jungles and the islands. They are able to connect to the internet to see the videos we post for them!

A couple of weeks ago we were able to send help to Urgandi/Mamartupu so they could buy food. Soul Seekers Ministry has also been able to help families here around the city who we know are needing food during this time. We try to provide enough food for them to eat for two weeks. It is amazing to see these families helping other families and sharing their meals with others even though they don't know where or when they will get food.  We love to see the body of Christ working together.  But most of all, we want people to know Christ. Thank you to everyone who has helped financially to provide food for those in need. God is using you to bless and encourage families here in Panama.

Your help is appreciated! It will go towards these different needs:

  • Food for families:(single moms, widows, death in their family): any amount would help: $25, $50, $100

  • Pastor Josef and Ray ,who are part of our team, in their seminary/institution studies
